illusions

I've been gone too long, but now I'm back. This post is based on lines. the secrets of creating illusions to manipulate the eyes. I know that most if not all have heard about the vertical and horizontal lines situation on clothing, and I have to say its all true.

Horizontal lines make you wider and shorter. you may not see but stand away from someone wearing clothing with horizontal lines and place them next to someone wearing vertical line and you will. The eyes follow a direction. Wearing lines allows the eyes to follow the direction you give.

Here's an image of Kim Kardashian wearing a dress with horizontal lines. Most of you who have seen images of Kim K. know that she has a shape to her body and great curves creating an hour glass silhouette, but do to the way we see and read lines her body looks short and wide.

Here's another image of a horizontal dress and you can see that it does not work in her favor. It doesn't create a shape for her body

Vertical lines on the other hand adds length to the body and slims where there are curves giving the body a shape you would prefer. With vertical lines the eyes follow up and down allowing us to pay attention to the length of the body and not how wide the hips are.

Diagonal or curved lines can be a woman's best friend when used properly. These line don't allow the eyes to stop looking for an end. As you can see with the images above it helps create a natural shape without a sense of direction; a person's eyes can follow these line differently. Example on the 2nd image the line on the bust area are curved giving shape to the bust area and giving an illusion that the breasts are bigger than what they really are. This attract attention to the bust area minimizing the waist and leveling with the hips.

The secret on how to choose the lines to wear is with the width of the lines and the amount of line. We can all wear horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines it all depends on how you pick them. Always remember when buying garments with horizontal lines the thinner the line and the more lines on the garment the better because although horizontal lines make you look wider and shorter, choosing the lines thinner and having more of them will distract the eyes and actually do the opposite. With vertical lines the wider the lines and the less the better, too many lines and thin ones will have the eyes lost and not knowing which line to follow.

It's like reverse psychology of lines lol

Hope this helps the next time you shop for lines!
