HI everyone,
So this is my first posting and I will just explain a little more of why I chose to create a blog and what I will be posting here. First off I am a student majoring in fashion, so I do have a good amount of knowledge on the topic, but I’m no expert of course. I’m just here to help you understand a little more about fashion, the why’s, what’s, and how’s. I do a lot of research and I observe a lot, I pay very close attention to minor details. As I was looking through blogs and just random fashion pages and I realized what everyone was doing, I’m not saying that it’s wrong, but…well this is the thing everyone all of the sudden has become a fashion expert and gives advice. They give advice on what’s in style and their way of incorporating that into their wardrobe and sharing it with other. The problem is they’re all telling you what’s in style and how to wear it, well I mean I think we all can see what hot right now; it is already out. I stopped and thought well dam if only they would have known that a season ahead, or explain to them why it is in style. Some of us look into our closets and try to find way to create that same outfit you saw in a magazine, but can’t figure out how. I will be taking basic pieces that are in our everyday wear and show different ways to dress them.
Here’s an example: (Miss Universe 2010)
Her evening gown to begin with grasps the attention of viewers because of the color red. Whether you are a fan of red or not it’s a hue that stands out and will capture your eyes. She’s also showing off some skin but in a decent manner, this is giving off that she obtains sex appeal, which of course always sells. The lines on the dress all play a different role. There is a beaded waistline, which some would say why does that matter. If you pay attention to her body her curves aren’t overly noticeable in that gown so the waistline gives the illusion that the waist is smaller by placing attention to where the waist is. While the waistline shows there is a waist the extra skirt on the bottom of the dress creates the illusion that the hips are wider thus making the waist look smaller. The shoulders are exposed so we know that she wasn’t trying to hide them. She was looking for attention around that area making the shoulders stand out and even with the hips giving you an hourglass shape. The beaded line going diagonal over her shoulder and breast gives and illusion that there is shape and the body is not a straight figure. If it were a horizontal line it would look too plain and boxed. Revealing the skin about the breast shows that she wanted the attention to be focused to her face and upper area (like when you wear a turtleneck you are framing your face, hiding your body so that they attention is on you face).
I know this was long but it was just to show you what I love doing and explaining reasons why things in fashion are the way they are, also a small intro. Hope you enjoyed and if you ever have any questions feel free to ask I will also post blogs upon request so any ideas just emails me or comment.
